Tide Chart for Ogunquit Beach, 2009
This chart shows the times of high tide for Ogunquit Beach for Winter & Spring 2008. To find the times for low tide just add or subtract about 6 hours and ten minutes to or from these times.
The times of high tide are approximate*. Tides are affected by the cycles of the moon primarily but are also influenced by weather. An offshore wind can push the water back from the shore a bit and on onshore wind can push the water higher onto the beach. The tides are highest and lowest one day after the full moon Between the spring tides are what are called neap tides. "Neap" tides might as well be called boring tides. They are neither very high nor very low. Neap tides occur around the time of the first quarter
These high tide times are approximate. I have rounded the times off to the nearest 5 minutes. This tide chart is intended for recreational users such as sport fishermen or beach goers. It is much easier to remember that high tide is around 7:00 vs. 6:57 and for most users the difference is indistinguishable. If you happen to be the captain of an oil tanker such as The Exxon Valdez then you should not rely on this chart, go away. |
