Fireworks have returned to Ogunquit!

Fireworks returned to Ogunquit Beach Friday, July 6, 2007.

The fireworks were shot from a barge anchored about 1/2 mile off of Ogunquit Beach and The Marginal Way. The fireworks had great viewing along Moody Beach as well as all of the Marginal Way, Perkins cove and the main beach closest to the main parking lot.

Please note that the main beach from the Norseman Resort to and including the Footbridge was closed.

This information from The Village Spirit Committee:

"Parking will be available at the Footbridge parking lot although no access to the beach will be permitted. Trolleys will provide transportation for $1.50 per ride and will run until midnight. The parking lot at the Main Beach will be closed, allowing for public viewing and entertainment will be provided by DJ Jerry Bazata. It is suggested for safety, that spectators carry flashlights for use in exiting the viewing areas.
This event is made possible by contributions from the community and all who come to enjoy the fireworks show. Please make checks payable to the Village Spirit Committee and mail to Po Box 684 Ogunquit, ME 03907"

We will be sharing Ogunquit beach with the Piping Plovers. The plovers nest in the sand dunes this time of the year. It is very important to the survival of their species to be left in peace while the young are in the nest. Please STAY OFF THE SAND DUNES. Thanks.

The tides were on our side this year.

I took this photo from the other side of Perkins Cove hoping that I could get a good reflection of the fireworks in the woter fo the harbor.

These fireworks photos were shot on July 4th 2004.

spectacular fireworks display Ogunquit

The Independence Day Fireworks (AKA the 4th of July) display in Ogunquit is said to be "The most spectacular fireworks display on the Maine coast ". The reflection of the fireworks off the water of the Ogunquit River, with the town visible in the background made for a great show.

The fireworks show starts at 9:30 but if you want a decent spot on the Marginal Way you have to get there early. All the soft rocks are taken by 8:30.

4th of July

Independence Day is all about freedom and honoring the words of Thomas Jefferson "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
